Beijing's history cannot be seen or experienced in just one day. Explore another side of Beijing to tour the Lama Temple, Panda Garden, and Summer Palace.
Begin your day right at the doors of your hotel, where you will be picked up and transported by an air-conditioned coach service. Make your way to the Lama Temple to tour the building known formally as Yonghe Temple. This Tibetan monastery is one of the most important of its kind in the world, and its architecture draws mixed influences from Han Chinese and Tibetan styles. This monastery, built during the Qing Dynasty, is also significant in that it survived the Cultural Revolution and still houses a beautiful collection of art. After viewing the living areas for a group of Tibetan monks, you will get a chance to see iconic Chinese pandas. Tour the Chinese panda zoo and get up close and personal with these endangered creatures. You can see the pandas in a near-natural environment; you won't be able to resist their adorable nature and unique markings.
After seeing these endangered creatures, you will stop for an included Chinese-style lunch in order to relax and reenergize. Once you are well fed and rested, you will then make your way to a location closely associated with Chinese imperial government and leisure: the Summer Palace. Tour the summer retreat of the Chinese emperors and the beautiful grounds that surround it. Much of the incredible and beautiful structures of the palace were built in the 19th century by the Empress Dowager Cixi. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the man-made lake that surrounds the palace and feel the peaceful energy in the retreat.
At the end of the day, you will be dropped back off at your hotel by air-conditioned coach service. This tour gives you a fantastic glimpse into some of Beijing's history and is essential to seeing and experiencing all that Beijing has to offer.
